Why Are Online Video Games So Addictive and Can Someone Find a solution to my Addiction?

koolinternetplayer asked:

I love playing online video games on my computer, but I play over(my parents tell me to stop but I don’t)a lot. I know I should stop but for some reason I just have to keep on playing. Why are they so addictive and can someone help me make my addiction go away?

I had an addiction 2 this is wat u do
    1. make u parent download something that gives u a cirten amount of time 2 play when the time is up then it wont let u loge on for the rest of the day!
    2. When u feel like playing trun the computer off right away!
    3. If nothing works then buy movies, music and candy/chocolat and do it or eat it when u wanna play the computer :D
    Hope this helps

I don’t know why it’s so addicting but I was addicted to it myself for a few years.

eventually i cut off my internet access and went cold turkey, it was hard but I got through it.

I suggest you move your PC into a family room, get it out of the bedroom where you’ll always be tempted.

the hard part is if you’re like me, all your friends are online too, so it’s harder to quit, try to organise a day with them outside of the house, like to the movies or go paintballing.

if you really do want to quit talk to your parents about it, they’ll be able to help you too.

try chaning your net access to dialup speeds, that’ll put a choke on online gaming

Because they were made to addictive. They make you feel happy and entertain. And also make you eager to finish their game that is the reason why you stay so long. And also you love the gameplay and the “feeling” when you play it.

You have to “control” your addiction by being managing your time..and try to find other things to do that can ward off you from playing…It will be challenging to change but if you have a strong will or determination …there is a possible you can manage your craving….

Theyre addictive because theyre fun, bottom line.

Just ask yourself this… do you REALLY want to quit? Why? Something better to do? Do it. Too expensive? You’re either gonna run out of money and stop playing, or you can afford it and keep playing it. Wasting your life away and you arent able to get the girl you want? You gonna keep blaming that on video games or are you gonna do somethin about it?

First ask yourself, Do I Really Want To Quit This?
Evaluate all the postitives and negatives of playing. Maybe talk with your parents about setting limits for the games.
Your Addicted because they are fun to play, and it gives you a constant goal to achieve, a new level, a new skill, and when it is accomplished you get a sense of pride.
